Tathra Wharf

The Wharf has transformed over the years from a small jetty into a large wharf as the needs of the community changed. It was used to by farmers exporting goods to other coastal communities, livestock and others goods. The last freight ship to leave the wharf was in 1954. Today the wharf has been turned into a local icon. It is used regularly as a fishing spot and cafe. The local Tathra Surf Club hold the Wharf to Waves swim race every year starting from the Wharf.

Playa Polo (North Beach)

Welcome to North Beach (Playa Polo). It is a great quiet beach. I found it the be a bit of a walk to the beach from Red Frog. i like how it is the typical Caribbean Island setting with the palm trees hanging over forming some shade for the guests. I found there to be only 6 other people on this amazing beach.

Vulcan Concepcíon and Airport

On Ometepe Island there is this airstrip. It is crossed by the main road the goes around the island. When there is a plane landing the road is closed. This woud be a great airport to land at with the view outside your window.

Rio Celeste

Rio Celeste is a found in Costa Rica. The water is naturally blue. This is called the Laguna Azul. The water turns blue because of a chemical reaction. As the two water courses mix it increases the size of aluminosilicate particles. When the sun shines it reflects off the aluminosilicate as blue. When you go to the Tenorio Volcano National Park you can see where the reaction starts and see a blue water fall also.

Vulcan Baru

Vulcan Baru is the largest mountain in Panama. It sits at 3,474m (11,398 ft) above sea level. I hiked up and back in a day. The sunrise is spectacular. I got a chance to see the Caribbean and the Pacific Oceans at the same time for the top.

On the top of the volcano sits this cross. To me it was a reminder that every day is a gift that is given to us and we should treat each day as it is our last.

Bungle Bungles, Purnululu National Park

Over the last 2 weeks I have had the opportunity to work up in the Kimberly and Top End Region. I was guiding a group of Gap Year students showing and experiencing new areas such as Purnululu National Park. The photo above is one of the many sunsets that we saw while we were traveling the Top End. It was very hot. We spent two mornings assisting rangers clearing paths, removing cane toads, and clearing campsites. The work we did made a difference to the appearance to areas that we cleaned. In the afternoon we explored the walks. On the first day we went to the Cathedral and Picaninny Creek. The next day we explored the Echidna Chasm. There is a lot more to see. I found the best time is in the evening and early mornings. Some places are best seen at midday.

Kookaburra sits in the….

I went for a walk along the Bega River one morning and found a couple of Kookaburras sitting in the Oak tree eyeing off the food on a picnic table. They were waiting for the family to leave something behind so that they could enjoy some also.

Longsheng Rice Terraces

The rice terraces in Longsheng were amazing. I traveled up the chair lift through the cloud. The landscape changed at it came into view amongst the cloud. At the top of the rice terrace, I got the experience the moving clouds and the mystery of the terraces. I was up the top of the rice terrace for about an hour and there was always clouds around the mountains. This is one of the shots I got before the cloud came in and covered the rice terrace and mountains.
